Welcome to The Twinsburg Farmers' Market Website!

The market is held on Church Street, downtown Twinsburg, every Thursday during the months of July, August and September from 3 - 7 pm.
COME ON DOWN AND DISCOVER THE DIFFERENCE FRESHNESS MAKES!

IT'S NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK!!!

"SUMMERTIME, AND THE LIVIN' IS EASY. FISH ARE JUMPIN', AND THE COTTON IS HIGH. . . " Ira Gershwin
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT COTTON, BUT OUR VENDOR BOOTHS ARE PILED HIGH WITH FRESHEST-OF-THE FRESH, JUST-PICKED SWEET CORN! AUGUST IS HERE AND THE SUN CONTINUES TO SHINE ON US! AMAZING!

CONGRATULATIONS go out to our 3 luckiest winners last week!
Winner of the market basket give-away was Twinsburg resident Mary Radtke,
and was she ever surprised and delighted!
She had insisted to her husband that they just HAD to attend the market that day! Hmmm...fate?
Val Lumby of Hudson and Dorothy Ruschak of Twinsburg each won a special Christmas present, also!
In fact Mrs. Clause attended our market last week, and gave away LOTS of presents!

See, you just never know what to expect at the market!
Have YOU been missing all the fun? I hope not!
What I DO hope, is to see YOU at the market THIS WEEK!
(everyone attending will receive two free tickets to Northfield Park Race Track!)
(while supply lasts)

Thanks for coming out and supporting our local farms.
The 2008 Farmers' Market continues THIS Thursday!

Some observations from our fifth week:

Such fun everyone seemed to have at the market last week! If you missed it, Santa and Mrs. Clause were there, celebrating 'Christmas in July' and checking to see if our customers have been being 'naughty, nice, very naughty, very, very nice,' or somewhere in between! Suffice it to say that lots of them were found out to have been behaving rather naughtily lately, and will need to be on their best behavior between now and December!
Many other customers received unexpected Christmas presents, and judging by all the smiles and giggles,
a good time was had by all!
Thanks to all of our great vendors who really got into the 'Christmas in July' spirit! The Cossel Farms booth was decorated appropriately, thanks to Leslie's mad search of her attic Thursday morning! I saw lots of zucchini and watermelons donning Santa hats!
Suzanne brought stunning hand blown glass ornaments that husband Paul had crafted. They were shining as the sun hit them! Wow!
A certain Mr. Smith of Reminderville made his first appearance this year!
I forgot to tell you all that former vendor, Raphael (he of the charming accent and delightfully good Spanish/French bread and rolls!)  had stopped by two weeks ago, and wanted me to tell everyone 'hello!' Raphael has had some health issues that have prevented him from coming to our market the last 2 years. Sure wish him well.
Did you know we have farm fresh eggs appearing at two stands? We do! (And some of them are even green . . . on purpose!)
Mary of Gift Gallery called during the week to tell us that sales at their Ravenna Rd. gift shop had increased, and she credited the awareness the market exposure provides. Glad to see Twinsburg embracing one of their own, especially since it's a special cause.
Sue and Jim of Gaelic Imports proved recently what great people they are! A lady had accidentally left her wallet at their stand, and they were nice enough to take the time to call her and let her know, then saw to it that I took temporary possession, until the lady could come pick it up the next day.
Was she ever relieved! Thanks, Sue and Jim, for going above and beyond!
Our newest produce vendor, Paul of the Hershberger Farm, was joined by wife Susan to sell their certified organic produce. New to the market scene, they are learning quickly how much to bring each week. This can be a tricky point for all the vendors, as so much depends on weather.
Celeste held down the Dew-Bee Honey Farm  booth by herself at one end of the market, and Jo Ann of The Other Side of the Fence did as well, down at the opposite end. I do hope you, as a customer, take the time to meet and greet these fine people who work so hard to bring you the freshest food available. They are happy to answer any questions you might have about their specialties. I noticed Jo Ann's pizzelles were back, and daughter Michele had a new sign board on display, educating all to her growing methods.

Don't forget . . . we have volunteer "Veggie Valets" available at each market to help you with your purchases. They can walk along with you as you shop, with a pull-wagon, or carry your bags and see to it that your purchases get safely to your cars. Why not avail yourself of this totally free service being offered? These teenagers are earning their high school community service hours by helping out at the market, and eagerly await the chance to carry your bags and help you out! But please, NO TIPPING ALLOWED.

just the facts, m'am . . .
So Don't Forget to Eat Your Fruits and Veggies!
The average adult should consume 2 fruits and 5 vegetables daily according to the USDA, the American Heart Association, and the National Cancer Institute.
At this point, fewer than one-third of adults in the U.S. meet this goal. It's mid-summer -- the fruits and vegetables don't get any better than this, so join me at the salad bar!

On a somber note, I regret to report the death of one of our original
vendors. Frank Goodell, husband of Virginia, father of Jay, and
father-in-law of Barb, who all have been at our market from the beginning
four years ago, passed away Monday, July 7th, after a short illness. The Goodell
Family Farm of Mantua, with their wonderful maple syrup and maple products,
has been a fixture at many local markets, as well as the Mantua Potato
Festival and the Geauga County Fair .
Mr. Goodell was a judge for the maple products at the fair for over sixty
years. Our sincerest sympathies go out to the Goodell Family, and we will
surely miss Frank at our market. God rest his soul.

*Just a note: Michael of Lucy's Sweet Surrender suggests that in order to avoid anyone being disappointed, why not call ahead to the bakery and place your order, and he will be sure to hold it for you. He can be reached at 216-752-0828.

This Thursday, Church Street will once again transform into our bustling, canopy-filled market!
YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS MUCH FUN, DO YOU?   PLAN ON ATTENDING!   TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

Some new photos from this year's market:
Michael, of Lucy's Sweet Surrender bakery, is always popular. *see note above

Someone is taking home one of Shari's bouquets, and she seems like a happy customer!

Our littlest vendor's helper, Miss Grace, waits anxiously for a customer to decide which size bottle of her daddy's honey they will buy.

Oh, such pretty gifts for some lucky recipient. Many local people with disabilities work here in Twinsburg at the Gift Gallery by Weaver Industries workshop on Ravenna Rd. You can purchase their wares at the market, or at their store giftshop.

Craig explains how to prepare his homemade Italian sausage. Some of Sirna's Farm & Market's homemade horseradish pickles can be seen in the background.
They usually have free samples, too!

Storehouse Tea Company refreshes their customers with free samples of their organic, loose-leaf, 'fair trade' teas. Last week it was green tea with lemon and ginseng. . . yum!

There's always a bit of a wait for the Scottish baked goods at Gaelic Imports, but well worth it!
